Running a company is enough work already
A limited company brings structure, limited liability and a second set of responsibilities. There are statutory accounts to prepare, a corporation tax return to file, a confirmation statement to keep on top of and a director's own tax return that has to agree with all of it.
We take the compliance off your desk and join the dots between the company, the directors and the tax that comes out of both. You get the filings done properly, a clear view of what the year produced and advice on how to take money out of the company sensibly.
Who it helps
- Owner-managed companies where the director is also the person doing everything else.
- New companies that need the first set of accounts done properly and the habits set early.
- Companies with several directors or shareholders who need the profit shares and the paperwork to stay clear.
- Contractors and consultants working through a limited company who want the compliance handled without paying for a layer they do not need.
What is included
- Statutory year-end accounts prepared for Companies House and for HMRC.
- Corporation tax returns including the computations behind the figure.
- Director's Self Assessment where a personal return is needed.
- Confirmation statements and other Companies House filings kept up to date.
- Dividend and salary planning so the way you take money out matches the year you have had.
- Expense and benefit checks including the director's own costs, company cars and use of home.
- A review conversation that covers more than the tax bill: profit, cash, reserves and what to do next.
How it works
- We get the year closed. Bookkeeping is brought up to date, the bank is reconciled and the accounts are prepared from real records rather than estimates.
- We check the tax position. Corporation tax, capital allowances, director's remuneration and any distributions are looked at together, because each one changes the others.
- You review the figures. We explain what the accounts say, what the company owes and what the director's own return will need to show.
- We file. Companies House and HMRC receive what they need by the right date, and you get copies for your own records.
A question we hear often
- How much should I take as salary and how much as a dividend? It depends on the year, your other income and what the company can safely distribute. That is a conversation, not a formula.
- Do I need an audit? Most small companies do not. We will tell you honestly whether one is required and what would change that.
- Can you be the company's accountant from the first day? Yes. We can act from incorporation, through the first accounts and the first corporation tax return, and grow the service as the company does.
